35-year ReunionSchool is in Session for the Class of 1974
By J. Eric Bishop Looking back on our 35-year class reunion and how I structured it, I think I ran it a little too much like school. I knew our time together would be short, so I wanted to cut right to the chase. Once we got to our seats at the table arranged as a large circle in the FACS room, I made a brief introduction and then outlined the three “Sharing Prompts.” Round One: a “telling detail” from your life of the last 24 hours; Round Two: an accomplishment for which you are most proud; Round Three: a Between Round One and Round Two I read a letters from Willie Swartzentruber and from Jon Greaser. I also brought greetings from our Chief Class Advisor, Mr. Roland Yoder. To conclude our session, I fired up a vintage projector and showed slides that Mr. Yoder had taken of each senior thirty-five years ago for use on “Senior Night.” After a group photo was taken in front of the Donor Wall in Rosenberger Academic Center, most of our group headed over to the All-Alumni Dinner and then to the Chapel, where the two front rows were reserved for us, to show our support for and pride in classmate Ted Swartz in the production of What Would Lloyd Do? Next time my buddy Bruce will show me how to take the stress out of a class reunion and to make school “interesting,” just as he did so effectively in 73-74!
