CLASS OF ’56 GATHERS FOR A PALETTE OF FESTIVITIES Nine classmates and spouses gathered from FL, AZ, IN and PA to celebrate fifty-five years since graduation from Christopher Dock. Our meeting in the Rosenberger Center consisted of sharing memories of our time in high school, remembering teachers with great appreciation, funny moments, even punishments recalled by those deserving classmates. Each classmate shared personal up-dates which changed from our last gathering two years ago in Arizona, where we were hosted by Dave and Madelyn Meyers. We are people who, among many other activities: raise money playing croquet, serve as a Deacon in church, quilt for charity, take watercolor classes, sell real estate from a golf cart, create a bird sanctuary in the backyard, try to convince the government that we are not deceased, work at preserving an historic village, enjoy living close to children and grandchildren, and as recreation take truckloads of baby chicks to Ontario! After the alumni dinner in the dining hall, we gathered at Dan and Shirley Lapp’s home to chat some more, sing, and eat Shirley’s tasty treats. Sunday noon we again met to eat, this time at the Washington House in Sellersville. Joined by three teachers, Janet Martin, Pearl Shrack, and Hiram Hershey, and a classmate who hadn’t seen some of us for fifty years, memories surfaced by both teachers and classmates. We left grateful, looking forward to another gathering, perhaps before the five-year interval. Submitted by Mary Rittenhouse-Schwartzentruber
