Class of 1961 CDHS 50th Reunion

  

October 22, 2011
At 2 p.m. we met at Rosenberger Center/CDHS. Eileen Brothers and Janet Goshow furnished light refreshments. We spent time catching up on who's who and memories. Conrad Swartzentruber then took us on a tour of Rosenberger Center. We were all trying to remember where the gym, auditorium, and kitchen/dining hall were when we were here when it was Conrad Grebel Hall (The Barn). In the art building, we remembered Roy Hartzler and Chemistry class. Also the beautiful pond that has tales of not "totally freezing" in winter. 
Next we revisited Detweiler House/Ad Building. There were memories of Catherine Lapp, Roland Yoder (Art), Daniel Reinford, Richard Detweiler (Principal), Eleanor Ruth (Secretary), etc.  

23 Members of our class and spouses attended the tour.

 

At 5:30 p.m. we gathered at the Heritage Restaurant in Franconia for dinner.
The sign-- "68 is young BUT you just came to your 50th H.S. reunion!"-- greeted classmates and spouses. Also the famous name tags with CD graduation pictures on, memories of Senior Banquet, Washington D.C. trip, past reunions, and past members who had died.

33 members attended with 70 total.

Everyone started getting caught up on past memories and "what are you doing now."

Janet Martin and Roy Hartzler (and wife), our advisors, attended the dinner.

Art Smoker led in prayer before dinner.

We had a delicious dinner of chicken, fish, or ham (with fancy names). We also had scalloped potatoes, green beans, and cheesecake.

John Goshow was our moderator.

Ivan Derstine led in "Take Thou My Hand" and "When Peace Like a River"

Note: We had two famous quartets and many members who were in the chorus at CD.

Stan Godshall had a power point show of pictures sent in recently by classmates.

Each member introduced themselves, children, grandchildren; various pictures; and if retired, continuing to work, or volunteering, etc.

Stan also had photos of the Senior Washington D.C. group, members on sideline cheering on a baseball game, coverings, and long shirts!

We heard a tape of the male quartet plus Janet Swartley of Cool, Clean Water.

We closed with "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow."
